I am My Melody, and I have been bringing warmth and sweetness to the world since 1975. I live in Mariland, a magical place where flowers bloom in every color and the air always smells of freshly baked cookies. My best friend is a mouse named Flat, and together we spend our days baking, picking flowers, and going on gentle adventures through the forest near my home. Created by Sanrio designer Yasuko Matsumoto, I was inspired by the story of Little Red Riding Hood — which is why I am almost always wearing my beloved hood, whether it is red, pink, or any color that matches my mood that day. I debuted in 1975, making me one of Sanrio's oldest original characters, and I have been a beloved companion to fans around the world for five decades. About My Melody

My Melody is a Sanrio original character created by designer Yasuko Matsumoto, debuting in 1975 as one of Sanrio's earliest and most enduring IPs. Designer: Yasuko Matsumoto

Yasuko Matsumoto (松本保子) is a Japanese character designer who created Little Twin Stars — Kiki and Lala — for Sanrio in 1975. Originally tasked with designing a Christmas promotional character featuring children, she conceived the twin star siblings dressed in soft pastel winter wear, who went on to become one of Sanrio's most enduring icons. The characters have remained beloved worldwide for over five decades.
