I am Cinnamoroll, and I came from the clouds — or at least, that is what everyone says. My large white ears help me fly, and I love nothing more than drifting gently on warm breezes, watching the world from above. My best friends and I spend our days at the Cafe Cinnamon in a mountain town, where the coffee is always warm and the pastries are always fresh. I was created by Sanrio designer Miyuki Okumura, who was inspired by the sight of a fluffy cloud that looked like a cinnamon roll while drinking her morning coffee. I debuted in 2001 as Baby Cinnamon, received my permanent name in 2003, and have been one of Sanrio's most beloved characters ever since — consistently ranking among the top characters in the global Sanrio polls. My design is soft and round and white, like the very best clouds, and I hope that whenever you look at me, you feel the way you feel when you look out a window on a clear blue day. Designer

Miyuki Okumura was born in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. She studied design at Joshibi Junior College before joining Sanrio as a character artist. In 2001, she created the character that would become Cinnamoroll — originally called "Baby Cinnamon" — after an early rabbit concept was rejected by Sanrio leadership in favor of a more distinctive design. Okumura was reportedly inspired by the sight of a fluffy cloud resembling a cinnamon roll while drinking coffee, a detail that became central to the character's identity and name. A trademark conflict led to the character's 2003 rename to Cinnamoroll, after which it rapidly became one of Sanrio's most beloved and commercially successful properties. Cinnamoroll consistently ranks among the top three characters in Sanrio's annual global popularity poll. Okumura contributed to numerous other Sanrio projects including Lloromannic and Beatcats, and served as executive producer on the Netflix anime Aggretsuko. After more than 25 years with the company, she left Sanrio in November 2024, leaving behind a legacy as the creator of one of modern kawaii culture's most enduring icons.
