YUY is an original illustrated character first posted on Xiaohongshu in early 2025 by a young Chinese illustrator born after 2000. Drawn in simple lines as a girl with black hair, freckles, a red nose and unevenly cut bangs, YUY appears in everyday, often self-mocking scenes about moods, self-acceptance and ordinary life. The account reached more than 50,000 followers in about three months and more than 300,000 within a year. At the end of 2025 TOPTOY, the designer toy brand of MINISO Group, took a controlling stake in the company that owns the IP, and YUY pop-up stores went on to record multi-million-yuan sales, with the Beijing location passing 10 million yuan in its first month. The character has also appeared in collaborations with Huawei, CASETiFY, Nayuki and McDonald's. YUY's first plush blind box, the YUY Beautiful Girl Plush Blind Box Series, launched across TOPTOY channels on September 25, 2026 with six regular styles: Sunset Glow, I'm Not Flawed, Risk It All for Love, Queen, Love in the Garden and Slow Down, plus the secret Happy Every Day (1/72).
