Hirono x Harry Potter Blind Box: My Secret Weight and Shake Guide

by Yuki 06 Oct 2026

I start this Hirono × Harry Potter blind box guide with two numbers: 104.4g for Mandrake and 105.3g for Special Edition Harry. They are only 0.9g apart, but the figures couldn't be more different: one is a grumpy plant in a pot; the other is Harry surrounded by his Hogwarts letters.

My favorite thing about the release is that POP MART hasn't just put Hirono into twelve school robes. Luna's lion head, Ron's chess horse and the flying Quidditch pose give quite different reasons to pick a box. The secret-weight and shake clues come first, followed by the regulars worth putting together.

Hirono Harry Potter Secrets: Mandrake (1/72) & Special Edition Harry (1/144)

Hirono Harry Potter Mandrake figure

Mandrake: the tiny side-gap clue

Small secret · 1/72 · Reference box weight: approximately 104.4g

The combination to look for is 104.4g, almost no vertical movement, almost no front-to-back movement, and a very small side-to-side gap. It's an exceptionally full box, with that tiny lateral clearance as the detail worth checking after the scale reading.

Make three gentle directional checks rather than keep shaking harder: upright first, front-to-back next, and side-to-side last. A clear loose knock or generous travel is a weaker match for this Mandrake reference.

Visually, Mandrake is the secret I prefer. The terracotta pot, branching green leaves and woody stems build an uneven silhouette around Hirono's frowning face; it looks like a whole little scene rather than a rare version of a school uniform.

Hirono Harry Potter Harry Potter-Special Edition figure

Special Edition Harry: tight all around

Big secret · 1/144 · Reference box weight: approximately 105.3g

For this Harry, I'd look for 105.3g, very little clearance in every direction, and mostly desiccant-packet noise, with only a slight front-to-back contact near the upper front of the box.

The blue checked jacket, envelope held beside the face and pale letters curling around the body are what make Special Edition Harry worth chasing for me. This is the invitation-to-Hogwarts scene, not Quidditch Harry in a different finish.

Sorting the close-weight boxes

Start with weight, then compare where the contents move. Around 104–106g, compare Mandrake's tiny side gap against Special Edition Harry's all-round tightness. At roughly 107–111g, Sorting Hat Harry (107.6g), Ron (108.6g), Quidditch Harry (109g) and Snape (110.5g) belong in the comparison instead of treating every dense box as a secret candidate.

Ron has the more useful loose-part sound in this group, while Sorting Hat Harry has a little front-to-back clearance. Quidditch Harry and Snape both feel very full, so check the location of the lateral contact: around Hagrid's printed position for Quidditch, higher near Snape's printed head for Snape.

If Mandrake is the only figure I want, I'd buy the confirmed Mandrake rather than build a purchase around a 0.9g difference. A random box makes more sense when the regular designs are part of the appeal, not just the chase.

The 12 regular figures: my picks and display pairings

My shortlist is Quidditch Harry, Luna and Snape: one for movement, one for the orange lion-head shape, and one for the book-and-flower detail. Differences in height, base and accessories make the scene a better guide than simply collecting three Harry faces.

Hirono Harry Potter Albus Dumbledore figure

Albus Dumbledore

Dumbledore's tall blue-purple hat, white hair and gold flame-topped pedestal give him the longest upright silhouette. He works best behind Snape and Sorting Hat Harry, keeping that gold accent visible.

Hirono Harry Potter Luna Lovegood figure

Luna Lovegood

Luna's orange lion head above a blue outfit is my favorite color break in the lineup. She carries a standalone display, with the tiny newspaper adding a quieter detail below the mane.

Hirono Harry Potter Lord Voldemort figure

Lord Voldemort

Voldemort's teal robe and curling tan snake make a curved silhouette beside Dumbledore's upright one. The pair works because the snake and gold pedestal pull the eye in opposite directions.

Hirono Harry Potter Severus Snape figure

Severus Snape

Snape's black robes hide his strongest details: an open book, extended wand and tiny pale flower. Sorting Hat Harry's seated pose leaves those details visible when the two share a shelf.

Hirono Harry Potter Harry Potter and Quidditch figure

Harry Potter and Quidditch

The red outfit, raised broom and gold spiral make Quidditch Harry the most animated regular. He's my standalone Harry pick, with the green base and lifted Snitch making the pose easy to read.

Hirono Harry Potter Ron Weasley figure

Ron Weasley

Ron's orange hair and blue checked clothes contrast with the gray chess horse and angular base. Quidditch Harry adds a red-and-blue contrast beside him, provided both accessories have room.

Hirono Harry Potter Harry Potter and The Sorting Hat figure

Harry Potter and The Sorting Hat

The creased brown hat, dangling legs and wooden stool give this Harry the quietest pose. Beside Snape, the hat and book carry the scene without a tall flying accessory.

Hirono Harry Potter Rubeus Hagrid figure

Rubeus Hagrid

Hagrid's green dragon, pink-red umbrella and little gray companion spread the detail across three heights. He belongs at the front so the umbrella and companion aren't hidden behind larger bases.

Hirono Harry Potter Draco Malfoy figure

Draco Malfoy

Draco's blond hair, green robe lining and yellow-lit lantern break up the black outfit. Hedwig Harry is his natural partner, with the red-and-yellow scarf sharpening the house-color contrast.

Hirono Harry Potter Sirius Black figure

Sirius Black

The wanted-poster frame, prisoner stripes and bare feet make Sirius feel like a miniature staged portrait. Leave room to turn him around, since the striped clothes and tousled hair also reward a rear view.

Hirono Harry Potter Dobby figure

Dobby

Dobby's big ears, gray tunic and open book with a tiny pale sock create a low, light composition. Dobby belongs near the shelf edge so the book and green accessory stay visible.

Hirono Harry Potter Harry Potter and Hedwig figure

Harry Potter and Hedwig

The white owl, striped scarf and snowy base make this the most immediately recognizable regular Harry. He makes a natural first figure or gift, while Quidditch Harry suits a more animated display.

How I would buy the Hirono Harry Potter series

For one regular: I'd take Quidditch Harry if I want the broom pose and raised Snitch to carry the display. Luna is my more unusual choice, with her orange mane above the blue outfit; Harry with Hedwig is the immediately recognizable option if the white owl and striped scarf are the main attraction.

For all 12 regulars: The opened whole set suits a complete lineup without the surprise. The sealed 12-box case keeps the opening experience; it contains 12 boxes, not all 14 possible figures.

For one secret: Mandrake is my sculptural pick because the plant, pot and frowning face make a complete miniature. Special Edition Harry is the story pick: the envelope and curling letters tell a scene that none of the three regular Harry designs repeats.

My final take

I like this release even without a secret. Luna's warm lion head, Snape's tiny flower and Quidditch Harry's raised pose are enough to build a small display with three different rhythms. For one chase figure, Mandrake wins for me: the uneven green crown and pot change the shelf more than another robe would.

For box picking, keep two profiles separate: Mandrake is the 104.4g reference with a tiny side gap; Special Edition Harry is the 105.3g reference with all-round tightness and mostly packet noise. The regular designs should still be worth opening, whichever secret profile the box seems to match.
