Pokémon

We started as a boy's memory of catching insects in the fields outside Tokyo. Satoshi Tajiri turned that memory into a game, and on February 27, 1996, Pokémon Red and Green arrived on the Game Boy with 151 of us hiding in tall grass and caves. One link cable and one trade later, we had become something children carried everywhere. Today there are 1,025 of us. We have been caught in nearly 500 million games, printed on more than 85 billion trading cards, and followed through decades of animated adventures. In 2016, Pokémon GO sent people out onto their own streets to look for us. We are Pikachu, who never wanted to stay inside a Poké Ball. We are Eevee, with many possible futures and no hurry to choose one. We are Gengar, grinning in the dark, and Psyduck, with a headache that never quite goes away. We are Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly, the newest first partners from Paldea. Now we have arrived in blind boxes too: Pop Mart's Encounter with My Partner series, Funism's Pokémon Hippers, and Medicom Toy's Be@rbrick Pikachu. Small enough to sit on a desk, and still waiting to be found.
