I don't fit neatly into anything, and that's exactly the point. Every series I release is a new chapter of a universe only I can see — part of me, part of the darkness, part of something just beyond reach. Xiong Miao brought me into the world in 2018, and together with Pop Mart, we've been building something that can't be contained. Skullpanda is a Pop Mart IP designed by Chinese artist Xiong Miao (NORTH STUDIO), introduced in 2018 and partnered with Pop Mart in 2020. Designer: Xiong Miao

Xiong Miao is a Chinese concept designer and art toy creator, known professionally as the founder of NORTH STUDIO. Her creative background spans film, architecture, and gaming concept art. In 2014, she established her art studio BEIZHAI, and in 2018 introduced SKULLPANDA — a dark, ethereal character that merges Gothic sensibilities with surreal dreamscapes. The pivotal moment came in 2020, when SKULLPANDA partnered with Pop Mart to launch the "Ancient Castle" blind box series, which sold 60,000 units in a single second upon release. Xiong Miao's work is defined by meticulous world-building and a distinctive visual language that resonates deeply with collectors drawn to alternative and underground aesthetics.
