Über KUBO

Ich bin KUBO — ein Stadtjunge mit Kurzhaarschnitt und viel, was unter der Oberfläche vorgeht. Ich skate, code, bewache den Strand, greife zur Gitarre, wenn die Stimmung es verlangt. Die Leute denken, ich bin unnahbar. Ich bin eigentlich nur wählerisch. Ich zeige keine Begeisterung, die ich nicht fühle — aber wenn mich etwas wirklich bewegt, gehe ich voll rein. Meine Welt verändert ständig ihre Form. Jede Serie ist eine andere Version von mir, die für einen anderen Teil des Lebens auftaucht — und ich bringe überall die gleiche Energie. BAO baute mich 2022 mit einer Idee: Own Your Truth. Ich versuche nicht dazuzugehören. Ich versuche nicht aufzufallen. Ich bin einfach genau das, was ich bin, wo auch immer ich bin. Das ist alles.

Designer

BAO is a Shenzhen-based illustrator and art toy designer, and the founder of MEØW Studio, established in 2021. Drawing from the visual language of urban street culture — skateboarding, music, fashion, and youth subcultures — BAO developed a distinctive design sensibility rooted in the belief that personal identity should be worn openly and without apology. In 2022, BAO introduced KUBO: a buzz-cut city kid whose motto, "Own Your Truth," captures the spirit behind the entire character universe. The character quickly resonated with a generation of collectors drawn to its versatility and authentic personality. In August 2023, BAO partnered with Pop Mart to launch the debut blind box series "KUBO Walks of Life," marking the beginning of a formal collaboration that has since grown into one of Pop Mart's most dynamic rising IPs. BAO continues to expand the KUBO universe through a diverse range of series, each reflecting a different facet of urban life and self-expression.
